Our first horse show of the Hawaii Horse Show Association season is in the books! We don’t call it April Showers for nothing. Of course we got some rain on Sunday afternoon, but with some last minute changes, we were able to squeeze in all of our classes before the rain.
We rearranged our schedule just a bit and completed nearly all of our classes on Saturday, which made for a long day, but our riders trucked on. We ran the show until the sunset had set and ran out of daylight.
This is my third year of shooting at the HHSA shows, and each year I get so excited for the first show of the year. After a long break from September to April, it’s a long wait until I get to be back ringside capturing everyone’s horse show memories.
HHSA made some changes to this years prize list and we’ve added in a green horse division. It was great to see some new horses in the ring, learning the ropes and gaining confidence in the arena.
I saw some new riders too, which I am always excited to see some new faces around the shows. Of course, plenty of familiar faces as well. It’s wonderful to see the camaraderie year after year.
One of my favorite things about being a photographer, is capturing all of the candid moments that happen outside of the show ring. These photos are some of my favorites, and I’m so happy to be able to share these moments with our riders.
That being said, I am now offering all candid photos to be free to download. If you missed it, you can find your photos by clicking the button below. Just click on the image you want to save and hit the download button to save it to your photos!
